Ready for the sailing “Oscar”

The Nations Trophy Regatta was a very emotional experience for the entire Swan family. After almost a year and a half of development and testing, the new pride of the Finnish shipyard – the ClubSwan 36 had its first racing appearance. During the Cup, the first ACI Sail ClubSwan 36 Training Center, located in Split was presented.

Immediately upon the end of the regatta in Palma, Swan’s crew was engaged in a special delivery. The destination was Barcelona, which hosted the European Ship of the Year tests. The ClubSwan 36 was nominated for the new category -Racer / Cruiser for 2020. and at the helm of the ship from Palma to Barcelona was ACI Sail project manager – Ivan Kljaković Gašpić, a long-time sailor in the Finn class.

We got wind speeds of 12 to 15 knots at speeds of 11 to 12 knots, which is great. “We enjoyed sailing to Barcelona”, explained a three-time Finn Olympian Ivan Kljaković Gašpić, who sailed to Barcelona for tests with ACI’s Club Swan 36 ‘Go Racing’.

The European Boat of the Year Award has been granted since 2004. and it is considered the most important, influential and the most communicated annual event in the world of sailing. Often called the ‘Oscars’ for boats, it reaches an international audience of several million sailing enthusiasts, boat owners and the most relevant people in the industry. The award was launched in 2004. by German sailing magazine YACHT, and today there are 12 journalists from the most prominent nautical magazines in the jury. The announcement of the winner for 2020. will take place during the nautical fair in Düsseldorf,- with the famous sentence: And the Oscar goes to…
