The first ClubSwan regatta in Croatia was a complete success

With three victories in four races, ClubSwan 36 Tracing Perfection won the first-ever ClubSwan Racing regatta in Croatia and lifted the ClubSwan 36 ACI Cup

The very first ClubSwan 36 ACI Cup in Croatia with the ClubSwan racing signature was held at the five-anchor ACI Marina Rovinj. Organized by ACI and ACI Sail with the support of Nautor’s Swan premiere edition of the regatta confirmed that Croatia and ACI are very ready to host ClubSwan 36 of the 2022 European Championship.

For over three decades, ACI and Rovinj have played a key role in the development of Croatia as a prestigious regatta destination. The combination of Mediterranean charm, nautical excellence and impeccable conditions in the heart of the historic city was the ideal stage for many tense ACI Match Race Cup regattas sailed by many greats like Russell Coutts, Peter Gilmour, Paul Cayard, Chris Dickson and many others.

Due to the great sailing tradition, superbly designed ACI Marina Rovinj and good conditions, Rovinj proved to be an ideal host for the ClubSwan 36 ACI Cup with which ACI returned in great style to the world sailing scene. The charming old city created a natural amphitheatre for one of sailing’s most striking scenes as the fleet of mighty ClubSwan 36 sets off to the racing area. The sheer beauty of Rovinj’s picturesque setting and superior designed five-anchor ACI Marina Rovinj embodies the spirit of elegant sailing endeavour.

‘In the past two years, nautical tourism has established itself as one of the main generators of a successful tourist season in Croatia. Therefore, this regatta should be seen as a perfect tool that allows us to start much earlier and finish the season much later. The goal of the partnership with Nautor’s Swan is to bring such clients and regattas to Croatia with the aim of developing a completely new generation of nautical tourism. ClubSwan 36 ACI Cup showed that Rovinj and the entire Croatian coast have a huge potential and knowledge for the organization of world-renowned regattas. ACI definitely has sailing in its DNA. And not only as a sport, but also as an activity that significantly contributes to the expansion of tourist offers in Croatia and promotes our sea in the best possible way’, explained Kristijan Pavić, director of ACI.

With six innovative ClubSwan 36s and crews from all over Europe, the ClubSwan 36 ACI Cup offered amazing sheltered conditions and intensive sailing. During the three days of racing, Rovinj did its best to offer sailors only the best of itself. Light winds combined with the clear blue sky formed the perfect sailing postcard from Istria, and the sailors had the difficult task of getting the best out of the boat and crew.

In such challenging conditions, the ClubSwan 36 Tracing Perfection crew with helmsman Daniel Kipp did the best job. With three victories in four races, the young German lions won the first-ever ClubSwan Racing regatta in Croatia and lifted the ClubSwan 36 ACI Cup.

‘First time in Croatia, first sailing on ClubSwan 36 and an immediate victory. As a sailor, I could hardly have written a better script for Rovinj. I normally sail on the J / 70 in Germany, but ClubSwan 36 is a completely different beast. All praise to ACI for a great regatta’, said Daniel Kipp.

With successfully organized ClubSwan36 ACI Cup this part of the Adriatic is set to be a superb ClubSwan racing destination in the future. Next year, Rovinj will host ClubSwan 36 Europeans in October.
